The festival is designed to promote the making of films by youth, especially youth who traditionally do not have the resources to explore filmmaking. The Red Stick Animation Festival has been instrumental in helping BGCAFF. All youth animated films will also be showcased within the Red Stick Animation Festival. The festival is organized and managed by LSU students, with the goal of providing a forum for both local filmmakers (students and non-students) and filmmakers from around the world. Awards include the Golden Outhouse (given to the best overall film in the festival) and Silver Outhouses (given to exceptional films that warrant merit of an award each year).
