Festival Statement: At the Media Arts & Literacy Institute, we are recognizing the parallels between the film, music and literary industries- All dominated in such a way women continue to still strive for positive media acknowledgment. This festival is doing its part in closing the gender divide with in the entertainment industry. Formally under the name of Blowin' Up A Spot! Film Festival: A Woman's Perspective the festival is having an open call for female filmmakers, musicians, actors, workshop presenters, spoken wordartist and screenwriters. A festival wholly focused on the contributions of all women; with a special emphasis on showcasing women of Latin, African, African American, Asian & Native American decent. This is a non- profit event supported by the City Of Austin and the Texas Commission of the Arts. All proceeds to benefit the Media Arts & Literacy Institute (MALI) .

Festival Statement: From its beginnings, the Dallas Video Festival focused on championing the democratization of media through spreading the gospel of affordable video technology. Access to the low cost (and even lower quality) video camera was the key to unlocking the creative expression of countless artists, amateur journalists and individuals with an interesting story to tell. Moving into the second decade of the new millennium, the Dallas Video Festival is now known simply as VideoFest.
